DESIGN [JUL 20]
An
important part of mechanical design is organization. Make
an accurate assembly, assign numbers & revisions to
custom parts, enter detailed metadata, & then your CAD
software will generate a Bill of Materials, which is invaluable
for costing, purchasing, inventory, etc. etc.
|
To
make sure the torso fit & was placed correctly, I first
made a simple D2 model based on my own measurements &
manufacturer data--all that's needed is the envelope &
the interfaces
|
Top
is 100% independent & removed in less than a minute
via a handful of screws--no mucking about with wires or
anything
|
I
considered having the torso & head 3D printed, but the
CNC machining cost was almost the same, & machining
allowed me to design in some high-precision features
|
Dr.
Inferno IV's storage case requires removing his torso from
his base, a quick job due to the independent design; also,
the torso & base each use the same type of battery,
so I have a spare
|
If
I were actually going to enter Dr. Inferno IV into combat,
& if you were a robot, & if this is the view you
saw, you might be worried
|
FingerTech
Beater Bar components, but with Infernolab tri-saws &
a flywheel drum coupler linking them
