AFTER BATTLEBOTS LONG BEACH [SEP 99]

Dr. Inferno at BattleBots right after he met up with Ziggo [photo: Derek Young]

After the rumble, he had been disemboweled

Duct tape & cable ties held him together

At least his head was still in one piece...

His defensive hinged skirts took a lot of punishment

He doesn't look too damaged from this view, but... [photo: Laurie Seymour]

...duct tape is clearly holding him together, as seen in the front [photo: Laurie Seymour]

What a trooper--ready for action only hours later

Dr. Inferno had the most spectacular death of the event--the audience & media were highly amused

DR. INFERNO VS. GIGAN DRIVEWAY FIGHT [MAR 99]

He almost looks menacing from this low & this close

Gigan is against the ropes, his tank tread snagged

Off comes the tank tread!

SOCIETY OF ROBOTIC COMBAT MEETING [AUG 98]

Describing Dr. Inferno's features at the 1st SORC meeting in San Francisco

Dr. Inferno picked a fight with Carnivore Jr. outside

Onlookers enjoy the carnage and mayhem

More fighting on the sidewalk

The streets of San Francisco are safe, thanks to Dr. Inferno

CONSTRUCTION [FALL 97-SUMMER 99]

Drivetrain: 2 surplus car power window motors with custom wheels

Wheels have lightening holes for weight savings & coolness, tread is epoxied-on vacuum cleaner belts (grippy!)

Aluminum brackets secure the gearhead motors to the base

Base is a high-strength carbon fiber composite panel

Body insides as seen from below: a semi-neat jumble of spaghetti wiring
